Postdoctoral Fellowship in Finance

About the Position

Frankfurt School invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the Centre for European Transformation (CfET). The position is for a fixed term of two years and focuses on research in financial intermediation and (debt) capital markets.

The successful candidate will join a team of researchers working in this area and contribute to strengthening the Centre’s research output. The role is research-focused and does not include teaching duties, though research-related tasks within the Centre are expected.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Finance or Economics

  • Expertise in machine learning and/or data science

  • Experience with unstructured data analysis (e.g. NLP) is an advantage

  • Strong research potential with the ambition to publish in leading finance journals

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team

Research Professional Program

About the Role

The Research Professional (Pre-Doc) will work closely with Frankfurt School faculty and the CfET Directors on research projects related to private debt, capital markets, and artificial intelligence.

This is a full-time position for two years, designed for candidates considering a future PhD in Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and manage research projects from inception to completion

  • Collect, structure, and analyse quantitative datasets

  • Conduct statistical analyses and programme in Stata, Python, or similar tools

  • Prepare tables, figures, and written research outputs

  • Conduct literature reviews and assist with manuscripts and reports

  • Provide technical and administrative research support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field

  • Strong quantitative background

  • Research experience preferred

  • Interest in pursuing graduate studies (PhD)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • High level of organisation and attention to detail

Working Conditions

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)

Research Assistant Position

About the Position

The Centre for European Transformation is seeking 2–3 Research Assistants to support research projects in capital markets and economic transformation. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking practical research experience.

Main Tasks

  • Conduct research on capital markets and economic topics

  • Write short research notes, summaries, and background materials

  • Support senior researchers on ongoing projects

Requirements

  • Background in Finance or Economics (Bachelor’s or Master’s level)

  • Initial experience in research or finance-related roles

  • Strong analytical and writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

Hours & Duration

  • Up to 20 hours per week during the semester

  • Up to 40 hours per week during semester breaks

  • Duration: 6–12 months

This is a paid position with flexible working hours to accommodate academic schedules.
